Sanitation Limitations
Cleaning and sanitizing may reduce the buildup of dirt, debris, and microorganisms on playground surfaces.
However, The Playground Standard does not guarantee the elimination of bacteria, viruses, or other pathogens.
Outdoor playground environments cannot be maintained in sterile conditions due to environmental exposure and continued public use.
Contaminants may be reintroduced immediately after cleaning.
Outdoor Environment Conditions
Playgrounds are outdoor environments that are continuously exposed to:
-
weather conditions
-
dust and dirt
-
pollen and organic debris
-
animals and insects
-
ongoing public use
Because of these environmental factors, playground surfaces may accumulate debris or contaminants shortly after cleaning.
The Playground Standard does not guarantee that surfaces will remain free of debris following service.
Equipment Condition Disclosure
Playground equipment naturally deteriorates over time due to:
-
ultraviolet exposure
-
environmental conditions
-
aging materials
-
corrosion
-
normal wear and use
Cleaning may reveal pre-existing conditions including:
-
discoloration
-
rust
-
cracking
-
coating failure
-
fading or material degradation
These conditions may have been previously concealed by dirt, debris, or buildup.
The Playground Standard is not responsible for pre-existing equipment deterioration or conditions revealed during cleaning.
No Safety Representation
The Playground Standard does not represent or certify that playground equipment is safe, compliant with regulations, or structurally sound.
Property owners remain responsible for ensuring that playground equipment:
-
is properly maintained
-
meets safety standards
-
is inspected regularly

complies with applicable regulations

Outdoor playground equipment may be recontaminated immediately following cleaning due to environmental exposure and public use.
